The Province of Alberta has established a public warning system that can be activated by local authorities. The system allows authorities to use television and radio broadcasts to transmit important information throughout the region. It is used to warn of severe weather conditions and to advise the public of actions to take in the event of a calamity.
In addition to the warning system, Alberta Environment provides a public advisory and warning system for high water conditions in both the river and creeks. In the event that stream levels are forecast to be significantly higher than normal an advisory and/or warning will be released by Alberta Environment as well as posted on their website.
