Spring lane grading is now complete.
Municipal Works would like to thank the residents of the City of Medicine Hat for their cooperation in helping us grade the lanes in a timely manner.
A second complete lane grading will happen again from August to October.
Each area takes approximately two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
This year you can follow the progress of the lane grading on a gravel lane grading area map. Watch for signs in your area. Signage will go up 24 hours in advance of lane grading. Areas are marked as they are completed.
| Why keeping your lane clear is important |
To ensure the safest and fastest grading of the lanes:
- Obstructions that are located in the lane, next to private property, must be removed from the lane.
- Under Streets Bylaw 1556, violators can be charged for not removing obstructions from the lane.
- Bylaw 1805 requires that garbage and yard waste containers are removed from the lane or street back on to private property within 24 hours. Lane grading activities will be coordinated with garbage pick up so that collection days are avoided. However, residents must ensure they comply with Bylaw 1805 so that their lane can be graded.
- Advise children to keep a safe distance from the equipment.
- Stay at least 15 metres away from the equipment and give them room to work.
