In April, City Council approved a Strategic Master Plan which lays out a “blue print” for future growth and development at the Medicine Hat Airport. The Strategic Master Plan, prepared in partnership with the Economic Development Alliance of Southeast Alberta (EDA), identifies three key components:
- To effectively and economically plan future airport investments,
- To maximize the use of the airport’s land, and
- For the airport to act as an economic driver for the community.
The Strategic Master Plan provides the foundation for more detailed business plans to attract development and business at the airport, and to plan for the needs of future air passenger services. The plan was developed with public and industry input through consultations in May 2005 and a public open house in March 2006.
