Regulations

Persons wishing to install a in front of a monument (headstone) must receive permission to do so. Regulations have been developed to ensure flowerbeds are consistent and meet specifications. Flowerbeds are installed by cemetery staff and include a hard plastic edging and soil amendments.

It is recommended that no live flowers be placed in flowerbeds prior to June 1 of each year as cemetery staff applies turf herbicide for weeds throughout the month of May.

Commemorative items are not allowed on the turf from April 1 to October 31. This includes artificial flowers, vases, stuffed articles, etc. By keeping the turf area clean, cemetery staff is able to effectively and efficiently maintain Hillside Cemetery to the high standards our community has come to expect. All commemorative items found on the turf adjacent to a gravesite during the summer season will be removed and stored for thirty days. Contact the Cemeteries Services Foreman to retrieve these commemorative items.

Glass commemorative items such as vases or jars are not permitted in the Cemetery. Articles constructed of glass will be removed by cemetery staff.
