Prior to a building being occupied, the occupancy must be approved by a Safety Codes Officer. In the case of single-family dwellings, duplexes, and fourplexes, occupancy is granted after a successful final inspection of the structure.
An Occupancy Permit will be required for commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential buildings (over four units) that have been newly constructed or finished, or have a change in occupancy. This permit and written approval to occupy must be in place prior to the space being occupied. Call 403.529.8374 for further information.
