The following information is required with a permit application (other requirements may apply for larger projects):
Residential Development
1. Two sets of construction plans

The information is to show that the proposed work will meet the requirements of the Alberta Building Code and whether adjacent properties will be impacted.

The plans must be drawn to scale, showing the nature and scope of work and the proposed occupancy of all parts of the building.

The plans should show:

Floor plan on a scale of not less than 1:100 or in a form acceptable to the SCO

Dimensions and description of all rooms
-
The location of walls, partitions, doorways, windows and other openings
-
Window and door sizes
-
The finish of floors, walls and ceilings
-

The plans shall state the building address, the name and address of the owner of the building or premises, the name of the person or firm who prepared the plans, and if an agent represents the owner, the name and address of the agent.
2. One site plan showing:

Area of the lot
-
Area of existing buildings
-
Area of proposed buildings
-
All cantilevers (including floors, bay windows, eaves, fireplaces, etc.)

All abutting streets, lanes, reserves, etc.
-
Easements and utility rights of way (UROW)
-
Finished grades at front and rear property lines and the corners of the building
-
The house address and legal description
3. Any engineered floor, beam or roof truss systems require that the layout of the system be provided by the designer.
4. Schedules may be required for larger projects in conformance with the Alberta Building Code.
Basement Development
Two sets of drawings showing:

Use and dimensions of the proposed rooms, including door sizes

Details of structural changes, if any
-
Window locations and sizes
-
Smoke alarm locations
Decks
Two sets of drawings showing:

Foundation details, elevation and cross-section drawings
