If you are experiencing a power outage, first check with neighbours to verify the extent of the outage. Should there be a number of your neighbours without power you can reach us at 403.529.8260 to report the outage.
If you are the only person experiencing a power outage, check all breakers on your electrical panel by turning them off and then back to the on position. Ensure you have fully turned them off before resetting to the on position. Should your power still be out, turn the main breaker located high in the panel box, to the off position and then back to the on position. If your power is still out, call the Electric Department at 403.529.8260 to report the problem.
Prepare an emergency kit now before a power outage happens. Here are a few items to include:
- Flashlights with fresh batteries for all home occupants
- Battery powered radio or television
- Spare batteries
- Matches and candles
- Drinking/cooking water
- Easy to make non-perishable food items
- Ensure you have at least one telephone that plugs directly into an outlet
