The aim of the Fire Service and Emergency Management is to deliver fire and disaster services within a structure that focuses on community prevention and education programs, while maintaining a continuous position of immediate responses capability to incidents that threaten the security of people, property and the environment.

The Fire Service/Emergency Management Departments aims to plan, manage, coordinate, and provide quality fire/rescue, community safety and education programs, and disaster services to the community of Medicine Hat. Emergency Services, collectively, responds to and manages approximately 10,000 calls for service per year, and also delivers an active community and school safety program.
