At the 2014 State of the City on January 21, Medicine Hat Mayor Ted Clugston revealed a new “edgy” corporate video. A collage of photos, both historical and iconic, assembled and produced by local photographer Luke Fandrich, in combination with the upbeat edgy song by Medicine Hat native Gordie Johnson and his band Big Sugar “All Hell for a Basement”, it expresses Mayor Clugston’s vision for our community in the coming years: Modern, edgy, with positive emotion that creates pride and a hopefully a new image of our city.
All Hell for a Basement is a song written by Gordie Johnson for Medicine Hat, and inspired by the story of a man from the Maritimes that can’t find work, who reads about the city in Alberta “with all hell for a basement” which offers an opportunity for a better life.
