Street Sweeper

The 2017 Street Sweeping program is now underway.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation during this time.

The City is divided into 17 zones for street sweeping, and each year they are rotated so all neighborhoods have the opportunity to be swept first. Typically the sweeping program will start around mid-April (depending on weather), with school zones and boulevards being first, then move into residential areas. The time it takes to sweep each zone is approximately two to three days.

Large signs will be posted at the main entrance to your neighborhood a minimum of 12 hours in advance of sweeping, along with smaller “No Parking in this Block” signs on each street being swept in that area.

In areas where there is a street grid system, such as the South West/East Hill, Flats and some parts of Crescent Heights, the street will be cleaned first, then the avenue.

Completed Zones
Will be posted on this page (to the right), so check back periodically to follow progress and stay up-to-date.
To locate what zone you are in, see the street sweeping map (above).

For the safety of residents, property, and to ensure crews can quickly and effectively clean the streets, we ask that you respect the no-parking requirements. Motor vehicles must be removed from a street when street sweeping signs are posted. For more information you can view Traffic Bylaw 2434 Section 18.5 for full details.

  • Sweep loose gravel off sidewalks and boulevards onto the street
  • Keep a safe distance from the sweepers
  • Stay at least 15 meters away from the equipment and slow down when driving
