Now Hiring Project Engineer-Substations
The City of Medicine Hat’s Utility Distribution Systems Department is searching for an experienced Project Engineer to join our talented team of professionals. This position is primarily responsibility for providing engineering support for design, project management and the development of system improvement recommendations on Substation Projects.
As the successful candidate it is essential that you are skilled in preparing designs, specifications, budgets and schedules for the implementation of capital and operational equipment improvements that improve the overall safety and reliability of power delivery to the end user. You bring technical knowledge and experience with managing projects in distribution, transmission, and communications systems and are well informed on industry best practices and internal safe work guidelines and processes. You have strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate your ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders. If you value providing high quality, client focused service to the community we service, then this opportunity is for you.
- Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution;
- Professional membership in, or the ability to become a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA);
- Five (5) years’ experience as a Professional Engineer working in the Utility Industry on Substation projects would be an asset
- Working knowledge of Project Management would be an asset;
- Possess a Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with an acceptable 5 Year Driver’s Abstract;
- An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.
