2017 Municipal Election

Special ballots give absent residents a chance to vote

Post Date:05/15/2017 11:21 AM
Medicine Hat – This year, residents absent from  the Medicine Hat voting jurisdiction between October 7 and 16 will have an additional option to cast their ballot.

For the first time in Medicine Hat, voters will be able to mail-in their ballots for the 2017 Municipal and School Board Election if they are going to be out of the Medicine Hat voting jurisdiction between October 7 and 16.

The Returning Officer will be accepting registrations for mail-in ballots starting August 15, 2017. Absent voters must fill out and return their ballots, oath and copy of identification by 4:30 pm on Election Day.

‘By providing for special ballots in the 2017 election, voters will be able to cast their ballot even if they are away from the Medicine Hat voting jurisdiction’, comments Angela Cruickshank, Returning Officer. ”This service may also benefit those who are homebound due to a physical incapacity, and prefer not to have election officers attend to their residence”.

Voters can also attend one of the Advance Polls on October 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14.
