Notice of Lions Park Spray Deck Closure

Post Date:06/14/2017 2:37 PM
Medicine Hat – The Parks and Recreation Department would like to advise that the Lions Park Spray Deck is being removed.  Work will commence in the next two weeks and should be completed by the end of July.

The Lions Park spray deck was not functional for the majority of the 2016 season due to safety concerns.  In October of 2016, assessment by an engineering consultant identified significant structure issues with the base, concrete slabs and plumbing of the deck.  The costs associated with adequately repairing and/or replacing the spray deck was prohibitive in comparison to removing the structure.

Park users are asked to please respect posted signs during this construction period and to use caution while in the area.  The outdoor exercise equipment to the west of the spray deck will not be impacted by construction and will remain open for your enjoyment.

Parks and Recreation would like to thank everyone for their understanding in making this decision and to remind everyone that we still have several other wonderful water playgrounds for you to enjoy.

• Strathcona Island Park
• Kiwanis Central Park
• Ross Glen Town Centre
• Saamis Rotary Park
