City Ratifies New Collective Agreements with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat has ratified two new collective agreements with Local Union 254 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers covering employees at the City’s Electric Generation & Water Treatment Plants, as well as employees in the City’s Electric Distribution business unit. The previous agreements expired on December 31, 2015.
The term of both new agreements is from January 1, 2016 until December 31, 2019 and includes general wage increases of 3% effective January 1, 2016, 0% effective January 1, 2017, 2% effective January 1, 2018 and 2% effective January 1, 2019.
The settlements between the City and IBEW reflect the wage escalation assumptions included in the 2017–2018 budget and supports the City’s Financially Fit for the Future plan.
