HAT Smart Funding Status Update
Reminder that funding is limited so please apply early
Medicine Hat – The City’s HAT Smart program continues to grow in popularity as energy-conscious residents take advantage of incentives to save money. Residents and local service providers are encouraged to visit www.hatsmart.ca or call 403.502.8799 for more information on the level of remaining funds under the 2017 HAT Smart program, as funding is limited.
The funding status is updated regularly on the HAT Smart website to ensure current levels are reflected. Reserved funding for the Solar Electric incentive sits at 74% for the year and the Drain Water Heat Recovery program is just under 20% utilization.
As of mid-July, the Attic Insulation program funding became fully exhausted. However, customers are encouraged to continuing submitting applications for work completed under the program. Applications received after funding has been fully subscribed will be held on file for consideration at the end of the year. Should funding remain upon conclusion of the 2017 HAT Smart program, applications will be considered in the order they were received.
*Current funding status as of September 22, 2017.
“We are pleased to see how successful the program has been so far this year and thank residents for their participation,” says Daygan Fowler, Environmental Sustainability Officer with the City’s HAT Smart program. “Residents can look forward to future incentives to save money and support environmental initiatives as the HAT Smart team is putting finishing touches on the 2018 program.”
Medicine Hat residents currently have the advantage of accessing funding for energy-conscious home upgrades from HAT Smart and Energy Efficiency Alberta. City staff have been working with the provincial agency where possible to ensure that the most cost-effective program is introduced for residents. The proposal for new HAT Smart incentives will be brought in front of City Council in the coming months.
HAT Smart rebates are available to all City of Medicine Hat residential utility customers and are processed on a first come, first served basis. Funding still remains under the Solar Electric, Drain Water Heat Recovery, and Scratch & Win incentives. Applications should be submitted early to take advantage of these initiatives before funding runs out.
