Cannabis Policies for Medicine Hat Survey Closes Wednesday
Medicine Hat – The community’s opportunity to influence municipal cannabis policy and regulation by participating in the Cannabis Policies for Medicine Hat Survey ends March 14, 2018.
“The survey is the primary opportunity for residents to relay community values surrounding cannabis legalization and influence Council decisions,” said Jim Genge, Senior Planner with the City’s Planning and Development Services. Community engagement around cannabis policies for Medicine Hat, to date, has resulted in over 6500 survey completions; the highest response rate of any survey conducted by the City.
The City of Medicine Hat is responsible for developing local policies and regulations including retail store locations and hours as well as public consumption rules.
“Cannabis legalization will impact our community greatly. Council has important decisions to make over the two most visible aspects, retail store locations and public consumption,” added Genge. A report of the survey results will be presented to City Council this spring for consideration as part of its decision-making process, prior to establishing bylaws.
Participation in the survey is voluntary and answers are confidential. Participants are not asked for any personal information. Responses will not be identified by individuals, rather compiled together and analyzed as a group. The report will be posted on the City’s website after it has gone to open council.
