Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat will welcome Jenna Cunningham and Gay Dubeau to the Sports Wall of Fame during a ceremony on Thursday, May 17, at 7:30 pm in the gymnasium of the Family Leisure Center. The ceremony is open to the public.

Ms. Cunningham has been involved in hockey for approximately 23 years. Cunningham played for the Calgary Infernos in its inaugural season in 2011, retiring after winning the Clarkson Cup (female hockey’s equivalent to the Stanley Cup) in 2016. She remains a broadcaster for the CWHL in Calgary and continues to coach and mentor young ladies through hockey and power skating camps.

Ms. Dubeau has been involved in figure skating and power skating for approximately 44 years.  She competed in the singles competition at the Canada Figure Skating Championship in 1973 and started the Cypress School of Skating in Medicine Hat in 1987, serving Medicine Hat and surrounding communities. She was named Alberta Figure Skating Coach of the Year for Southern Alberta (2001/2002), recruited by Skate Canada to help expand the curriculum for the CanPowerSkate Course and develop the Pre Power Program for 4-6 year olds, and is one of only 10 people in Canada qualified to facilitate a course to certify coaches for Skate Canada.
