Thin Ice a Danger to People and Pets

Stay Off Open Bodies of Water

Post Date:01/03/2019 9:16 AM

Medicine Hat – Medicine Hat Fire Services urges residents to use caution around any bodies of water that appear to be frozen including ponds, creeks and the river.  With the recent warm weather we are experiencing, any lingering ice may not be capable of supporting any weight and will be extremely unstable

Fire Services is advising that pets be kept on a leash when near bodies of water so they do not venture out on the ice after birds and other wildlife.

Medicine Hat Fire Service is concerned for the safety of our residents so please treat all bodies of water as hazardous and stay off the ice.
