2nd Open House on Snow and Ice Control Tomorrow
Come share your feedback April 9 at the FLC 4:30 - 7:30 pm
Medicine Hat – Residents have a second opportunity to share feedback on Snow and Ice Control at an Open House tomorrow, April 9. The Open House is located in the Sage Room at the Family Leisure Centre and runs from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
On April 4, the City launched a Snow and Ice Control Community Survey. The survey will be open until April 25, 2019. Paper copies of the survey and other information will be available for viewing at the Open House.
Winter road maintenance affects everyone in Medicine Hat – whether driving, walking, cycling or using public transit. With memories of winter fresh on everyone’s minds, the City is seeking community feedback as part of a review on how it manages snow and ice control.
“Thank you to the residents who came to the Open House last week and to those who have already given their comments online through our survey,” says Michael Knight, Municipal Engineer with the City’s Municipal Works department. “The feedback and ideas we receive will play an important role throughout our review.”
The last time the City reviewed its snow and ice control practices was in 2011. The goal is to complete this review in early 2020. In addition to listening to the community, the City’s Municipal Works department will also look at current industry best practices and new technology available.
“We hope for a great turnout at the Open Houses,” adds Knight. “This is a starting point for future conversations about the service levels that we provide.”
