City to use Drone-Based Surveying to Support Irrigation Design
Medicine Hat – Beginning the week of July 29, 2019, a contractor working on behalf of the City of Medicine Hat will complete a drone survey to capture existing City utility and park infrastructure information.
The survey is part of the preliminary design for an upgraded irrigation system within Leinweber Park and Gilwell Park, bordering the north and south sides of Cuyler Road SE.

The work is anticipated to be complete by Friday, August 2, 2019.
Throughout the week, residents may see a drone surveyor within both Leinweber Park and Gilwell Park operating a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) which will be collecting survey information on City assets within the park limits. The UAV will not be collecting any information on private property.
Aerial surveying is a technique the City has used in past projects to collect data information. Drones are a low-cost alternative in some mapping applications to assist with project design work.
The UAV will not be disruptive and flight paths will be of short duration.
The City of Medicine Hat would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this time of preliminary information gathering in preparation of our capital irrigation upgrade.
