Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat’s Heritage Resources Committee, in conjunction with the congregation of Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church, is inviting everyone to attend a plaque unveiling ceremony to mark the historic designation of the church on September 24, 2019 beginning at 4 p.m.

The ceremony will take place near the front entrance of the church at the corner of 5th Avenue and 4th Street SE. Light refreshments, complements of Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church, will be served in the church hall following the unveiling. Tours of the church will also be available.

Plaque unveilings provide an occasion to learn more about the architectural, heritage, and cultural value of the city’s historic resources. To see what plaques have been unveiled to date, please visit and click on the Municipal Historic Resource Registry and Plaque Program.

The Heritage Resources Committee (HRC) was formed in January 2010, as a Committee of Council, to carry out their role in advising Council on all matters relating to heritage resources in the City of Medicine Hat. One of the key roles of the HRC is to evaluate requests for designation of sites/resources and recommend designation to City Council. The HRC has been very active in preserving the city’s heritage resources for future generations.
