Downtown Tree Replacement Project Underway

Post Date:10/16/2019 8:44 AM

Medicine Hat – Beginning this week, a contractor hired by the City will begin tree replacements in the downtown area of the City. Work will occur along 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Street SE, removing existing tree stumps and placing with new ball and burlap trees.

Delivery for the decorative iron tree grates will come at a later date this fall. In the interim, plywood covers will substitute for the metal tree grates until they can be delivered and installed.

Approximately 25 trees are planned for replacement in this phase. Tree replacements needed in the 500 and 600 block of 3rd Street SE will be replaced in another phase as part of a future planned 3rd Street SE Rehabilitation.

It is expected the work will take about four days to complete, depending on weather and tree stump removal complications.

It is important that the public obey all construction and temporary signs while this work is being done.

The City of Medicine Hat would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this time and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
