Facility Renovations Continue Through End of the Year
Strathcona Centre to Reopen January 2020
Medicine Hat – The renovations at the Strathcona Centre are continuing as the snow begins to fall.
The extensive project began in July and included replacing the HVAC equipment and fire alarms, which had reached their end of lifecycle. New siding and a new roof have also been added, along with barrier-free access to better accommodate members with mobility aids.
The reopening of the Strathcona Centre will be extended into the New Year to ensure successful completion of the project before opening to the public. The City of Medicine Hat, the consultant and the contractor are working together to minimize any community impact.
In order to best serve the community, City staff will return to the building throughout the week of December 16 and ensure that programming options will be available on January 2, 2020.
Fitness Centre members of the Strathcona Centre will continue to have their memberships honoured at the Crestwood Recreation Centre during this time.
The City of Medicine Hat is committed to safety and ensuring our aging assets and infrastructure are maintained and renewed. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we undertake this important community improvement project.
