Upgrades to Parkade Membrane Complete
Medicine Hat – A major project to upgrade the parkade roof membrane and plaza at City Hall is nearing completion.
The roof membrane, which protects the structure and ensures adequate waterproofing and drainage, had reached the end of its life expectancy. Replacement work began in this spring and has improved drainage in the area, while ensuring the integrity of the parkade.
Landscaping work around the plaza, including a new pathway which connects Finlay Bridge to City Hall, has also been completed. The west sidewalk of the bridge will reopen for pedestrians and cyclists on Wednesday, November 27. The temporary fencing will be moved, allowing access to the wheelchair ramp.
Contractors will remain on site throughout the winter in order to complete work around the clock tower and fountain.
The City of Medicine Hat is committed to safety and to ensuring our aging assets and infrastructure are maintained and renewed. We appreciate the patience of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists during this project.
