1st Street SW Infrastructure Renewal Project Resumes
Medicine Hat – Construction related to the infrastructure renewal project along 1 Street SW will resume on Monday, May 4. This is the final phase of the project.
Work in the 100 and 200 blocks of 1 Street SW is expected to be completed by the end of June 2020, weather dependent. The remaining work involves installing guard rail, sidewalk, pathway, and electrical conduit, along with completing top lift asphalt and landscaping.
In 2018, several City departments, including Electric Distribution, Environmental Utilities and Municipal Works, began work to improve and replace infrastructure along 1 Street SW between Division Avenue S and Chinook Drive SW.
Beginning May 4, 1 Street SW will be closed from Chinook Drive to 2 Ave SW.
Please follow all traffic signs and detours related to the construction.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, necessary City construction and infrastructure renewal and repair work will continue throughout the City. Residents are reminded to allow crews space to work safely, and to adhere to physical distancing standards by staying at least two metres away from City workers.
The City of Medicine Hat would like to thank residents for their continued patience and understanding as the necessary upgrades are completed to ensure safe and reliable infrastructure for years to come.
