Invest Medicine Hat Welcomes new Director of Land Development and Real Estate
Medicine Hat – Invest Medicine Hat (IMH) is pleased to announce Chris Perret as the new Director of Land Development and Real Estate.
With a background in real estate valuation and appraisal services, Perret has worked with business operations in a number of industries throughout North America, within an independent consulting firm and within MNP. With expertise in business value estimates, establishing purchase prices, financing, share restructuring, feasibility studies and valuation on intangible assets such as patents, trademarks and contracts, Perret brings a broad base of skills to IMH.
“Chris brings tremendous experience and great perspective on real estate development in Medicine Hat. He has worked extensively in this community and has great local relationships and insight,” says Jason Melhoff, Managing Director of Invest Medicine Hat. “We are very pleased to have him join the team.”
Perret’s focus will be on managing the City of Medicine Hat’s land inventory, with a focus on intensification, strategic land development, and collaborating with private development.
“I look forward to working with the IMH team and developers to grow and enhance our community,” says Perret. “We want to foster economic growth in the City of Medicine Hat and that requires developing land strategically to allow for new investment, and finding opportunities within existing developments that achieve the needs of operations seeking to find a home in Medicine Hat.”
While Perret brings significant knowledge and experience to his professional role, he is also an active volunteer in the community. Currently the head coach of the Medicine Hat Junior Colts football team and current defensive coordinator for the Southern Alberta Summer Games team (South Knights), he’s also an active volunteer with Rotary (Past President), Medicine Hat Canada Day Society, and Canadian Humanitarian.
The Invest Medicine Hat function was brought in-house in August of 2019 after operating through an external contract for the previous four years. The new Invest Medicine Hat continues to focus on investment attraction, but with a more comprehensive economic development approach that includes land development and sales, business retention and expansion, and marketing and communications. The move will further the City’s strategy to promote, enable and facilitate economic vitality and community vibrancy.
