Kipling and Spencer Street Corridor Rehabilitation Moves West
Medicine Hat – Starting Monday, Oct. 5, crews will complete the top lift pavement work on the first three phases of the Kipling and Spencer Street Water and Sewer Rehabilitation Project.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane on southbound Kingsway Avenue SE, leading up the Dunmore Road hill, until Oct. 9. The right lane of Allowance Avenue/Spencer Street SE will also be closed to vehicles turning south onto Dunmore Road SE.
Construction then continues in the remaining three phases of the multi-year rehabilitation project to upgrade water and sewer infrastructure in the Spencer Street SE area.
Starting Oct. 13, access to Kipling Street SE will be restricted at College Avenue SE. Businesses and residences on Spencer Street SE and Kipling Street SE will remain accessible from Kingsway Avenue SE, and a temporary bypass road will provide public access to Canada Post and Medicine Hat Recovery Center. This closure will last until the conclusion of the project later this fall.
Motorists are advised to plan routes in advance and to follow detours directing them around the construction area.
Residents may follow the progress of the project on the City's website.
The Environmental Utilities Department would like to thank residents for their continued patience and understanding as the necessary upgrades are completed to ensure safe and reliable infrastructure for years to come.
