GCC to EDRP Multi-Use Trail Initiative
Project Description
Approximately 20 km of mountain bike multi-use trails and a pump/skill track will be developed around the Echo Dale / Campground Trail within the Heritage Trail Network.
Funding for this project comes from the Municipal Stimulus Program, an initiative from the Government of Alberta in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Timing & Traffic Accommodations
Construction began in spring 2021 and is expected to be completed by the end of the construction season.
During this time, the Echo Dale / Campground Trail will remain open to all trail users.
Benefits
The Municipal Stimulus program will fast track this project. The trail will provide recreation for residents, increase tourism, and encourage more camping, private accommodations and attractions in the area.
A local volunteer group is under agreement with the City to maintain the trails.
Notifications
Updates about the project will be shared through the City's social media accounts.
Safety
Signs will be posted in the area when crews are working. Residents are reminded to please use caution around any equipment in the area.
