Southeast Rural Renewal Pilot

The City of Medicine Hat, along with regional partners Cypress County, Town of Redcliff, and Town of Bow Island, are approved as a designated community for the Rural Renewal Stream of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).

Rural Renewal supports the attraction and retention of newcomers in rural Alberta through a community-driven approach that is responsive to local economic development needs and contributes to the economic growth of the community.

Medicine Hat Economic Development is taking immediate steps for the design and launch of the Southeast Rural Renewal Pilot. The pilot will support local businesses by providing endorsement letters to qualified and financially secure immigrants who have a genuine desire to settle in Southeast Alberta.

We are in the process of designing the program and ask for your patience as details are finalized. This website will be periodically updated with information and announcements.

The Southeast Rural Renewal Pilot will be available in the second quarter of 2024.

If you are a foreign national interested in this program, please visit Alberta Advantage Immigration Program - Rural Renewal Stream candidate criteria to review eligibility.
