Workplace flexibility

Earned days off (EDO)

Employees work longer shifts in exchange for a reduction of working days in their work cycle.


In some cases, employees can vary their start and end times while working the core workday hours.

Working remotely program

We are currently evaluating a six-month pilot program in consideration of a permanent remote work option.

Learning and growth opportunities (development)

We view training and development as the keys to the success of our team members and our organizational effectiveness. We are committed to the personal growth and development of every employee. We create, promote access to, and provide encouragement to participate in learning opportunities that enhance your ability to perform your current role, as well as prepare yourself for future opportunities in the organization.

We may provide financial support to employees pursuing external professional development courses, and/or post-secondary education. We also have an exceptional in-house line-up of voluntary workshops and programs that are congruent with our corporate values and key objectives for building capacity in our organization. Management Growth Program (MGP)

This program is aimed at helping upcoming leaders be more comfortable in a managerial role – whether they are there now or aspire to be there. We do this by providing practical knowledge, skills and increased confidence in areas most relevant to an employee’s management growth area. The approach is collaborative with City leaders and internal staff facilitators providing not only content, but also a framework to encourage open discussion, collaboration and networking across the organization.
