City employees belong to the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP) or the Police Special Forces Pension Plan (SFPP).
Workplace flexibility

We understand that many employees thrive in non-traditional work environments, and we’re committed to supporting work/life balance however we can.

With that in mind, we’re excited to announce that the City recently adopted a remote work program.

And through earned days off (EDO), City employees may be eligible to work longer shifts in exchange for fewer working days.

Professional development

We are deeply committed to our employees’ professional growth and believe that ongoing training and development is essential to success—theirs and ours alike. We create and support learning opportunities that enhance our employees’ abilities to perform in their current roles while preparing them for future opportunities.

Internally, we have developed a robust selection of in-house workshops and programs that align with our corporate values and objectives—everything from corporate safety training to hazard identification, assessment and control to our Management Growth Program, designed to help new and aspiring leaders gain confidence in managerial roles.

The City also provides financial assistance for employees to pursue external professional development courses or post-secondary education. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.
