Who can sign up for Automatic Withdrawal?

How is my monthly budget calculated?

Your monthly equalized payment or budget amount is estimated based on the previous year's consumption at your service address.

How will I know if I'm paying enough?

The difference between your actual utility charges and payments to date will be displayed in the middle section of your Utility Statement. You will continue to receive detailed Utility Statements outlining actual utility charges based on your consumption. The “AMOUNT DUE” on your statement will be your budget amount.

Your account will continue to be monitored and a letter will be sent in advance notifying you of any change to your budget amount.

When is my account reconciled?

April is “rollover” month for all Budget Billing customers. The Rollover balance is the difference between your billed amounts and your payments made between May of the previous year and March of the current year.

The rollover process resets your payment amount for the next 12 months. You will receive a letter and reconciliation with your April statement showing the new monthly payment.

Your new monthly payment amounts are your projected utility costs for the next 12 months, plus any rollover balance (debit or credit). Projected utility costs are calculated from your actual utility bills and adjusted for rate increases.

If you are making payments through Automatic Bank Withdrawal, then your new monthly payment amount will be automatically withdrawn on your next regularly scheduled withdrawal date. For customers not using Automatic Bank Withdrawal, the new monthly balance must be paid on or before the due date on your April Utility Statement.

Cancellation or dishonoured cheques

You may withdraw from Budget Billing by giving notice to Customer Service at least two weeks before the next payment date.

Dishonoured payments are subject to a service charge in accordance with the Dishonoured Payment Bylaw. Your participation in the plan may be cancelled.
