Accessible Vehicle Show & Shine at Medicine Hat Mall

Medicine Hat – As part of National AccessAbility Week, the City of Medicine Hat’s Advisory Committee on Disability Issues is hosting an Accessible Vehicle Show & Shine.

“Whether it is for work, errands, or pleasure, mobility matters to people of all abilities,” said Leslie Jerry, Community Inclusion Coordinator.

“Accessible vehicles are not something every car dealership carries,” said Duane Burr, chair of the Advisory Committee on Disability Issues. “After I had my accident, I had no idea where to go or who I could talk to about finding a vehicle that fit me and my family.”

The event will showcase a variety of accessible vehicles and the technology they are equipped with, including ramps, hand controls, box pickers and more. Vehicle owners will also be on hand to answer questions.

“Having a vehicle that was fully accessible meant I had my independence back,” Burr said. “It gave me freedom.”

The Accessible Vehicle Show & Shine will take place on May 29 at the Medicine Hat Mall parking lot, along Trans Canada Way, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.

Vehicle enthusiasts of all ages are welcome to attend the event.

National AccessAbility Week runs from May 26 to June 1.
