City accepting 2025 applications for Community Microgrants program
Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat is now accepting applications for its Community Microgrants program. The program promotes the fostering and strengthening of connections in the community through neighbourhood or community gatherings and activities.
The Community Microgrants program offers up to $500 in two categories:- Neighbourhood Connections – Building neighbourhoods, fostering social connection and inclusion
- Community Arts & Culture – Promotes community arts and heritage, and celebrates diverse cultures
The 2025 application window will remain open until the end of the year or until all available funds have been allocated. Applicants must apply online, and are encouraged to review guidelines thoroughly as some qualifications have changed.
To be eligible for a grant, proposed events must fulfill one or more of the following objectives:- Must take place within the city of Medicine Hat limits/boundaries
- Reflect the spirit of City Council’s Strategic Plan 2023-2026
- Offer the sharing of residents’ skills and knowledge
- Foster neighbourhood and/or community pride
Examples of activities supported by this grant in 2024 include:
- Community Beautification Gathering
- Neighborhood Lawn Bowling and Barbeque
- Meet your neighbor BBQ
- End of School Celebration/Retirement Party/Street Concert
These events included 1,222 participants with approximately 209 volunteers contributing over 361 volunteer hours.
