City conducting community survey as part of Land Use Bylaw refresh

Medicine Hat - The City of Medicine Hat is in the process of refreshing its Land Use Bylaw, and is looking for residents to submit feedback through a community survey on its Shape Your City page.

A Land Use Bylaw refresh was needed to better align with the policies of the Municipal Development Plan, passed by City Council in 2020. The current version of the Land Use Bylaw was passed in 2013.

A Land Use Bylaw controls development by categorizing all properties in a city into various land use districts. It governs what land use may occur on every piece of property and establishes a system for issuing development permits.

Residents are invited to complete the survey by July 31, 2024 to ensure feedback can be sufficiently implemented into the ongoing draft document before its submission to City Council for approval. There will also be additional public engagement opportunities after the draft document has been completed.

Residents can learn more about the Land Use Bylaw refresh and community engagement efforts to-date on the City’s Shape Your City page.
