City hosting Transportation Master Plan open houses

Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat invites residents to attend one of its upcoming open houses for the draft Transportation Master Plan (TMP) and its associated strategy documents – the Active Transportation Strategy (ATS) and Transportation Safety Strategy (TSS).

The public will have the opportunity to discuss the draft documents with City staff and project consultants at one of the following events:

• Tuesday, March 11: 4 to 8 p.m. – Esplanade Studio Theatre
• Wednesday, March 12: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Centennial Hall (Medicine Hat College)

A Transportation Master Plan lays out the long-term vision for a city’s Transportation network, encompassing comprehensive strategies, initiatives, and road network improvements. Medicine Hat’s TMP, TSS, and ATS outline a plan for Medicine Hat until 2050. It will consider evolving transportation infrastructure requirements to accommodate growth and cater to changing needs. It will also align with direction from the Municipal Development Plan and Recreation Master Plan.

Work on the City’s TMP, ATS, and TSS was initiated in July 2023. The ultimate goals of these documents are to foster healthy, sustainable communities and drive economic growth by ensuring safe, dependable travel and efficient movement of goods.
