City Managing Natural Gas Over - Odourization
Residents in the north end of the city and Redcliff may notice a stronger than normal odour from their natural gas.
The smell is a result of too much odourant being unintentionally injected into the gas and may be strongest when a water heater kicks in while doing dishes or laundry.
In its natural form, natural gas has no smell. Odourants are added to help detect its presence. While over-odourization is a nuisance, it does not present any danger.
If the smell becomes unpleasant in your home, please open the windows to let fresh air into your home
Gas Utility staff are responding to calls from customers. There has been no service loss. Residents with concerns should call the Gas Emergency Line at 403-529-8191.
