City website and myMH portal receive Gold Medal from MarCom Awards

Medicine Hat – The City of Medicine Hat’s new website and myMH portal have received a Gold Medal in the Annual MarCom Awards (Digital Media Category), administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.

The MarCom Awards honour excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing the creativity, hard work, and generosity of industry professionals.

Since its inception in 2004, MarCom has evolved into one of the largest, most-respected creative competitions in the world. Each year about 6,500 print and digital entries are submitted from dozens of countries.

“We are grateful for this acknowledgement of the collaborative work accomplished together with our contractor, eSolutionsGroup. It is encouraging for our project to be recognized by the industry that evaluates thousands of similar proposals,” said Dennis Egert, Managing Director of Corporate Services. “The website and related portal form the foundation for more innovative features that will advance how the community communicates and does business with the City.”

The redesign of the City website and the development of the myMHportal were part of the City’s comprehensive citizen-facing digital strategy (CFDS) being implemented over a three to five-year period. The CFDS project identifies key deliverables that support the following themes:

  • Improve the customer journey
  • Provide better service with less effort
  • Streamline the request process
  • Minimize duplication of effort
  • Make doing business online easier
  • Leverage existing investments

“We are honoured by this recognition,” said Marty Robinson, Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Technology (IT), the department spearheading the CFDS. “The City is very fortunate to have a highly skilled team of IT professionals and a talented corporate communications team who worked in tandem, alongside eSolutionsGroup, cooperating with various other stakeholders in the organization, to bring this website and portal to life.”

eSolutionsGroup (a GHD Company), the Digital Media company that supported the project, submitted the City of Medicine Hat’s website and myMH portal to MarCom Awards for consideration. Established in 1999, eSolutionsGroup is a leading provider of barrier-free websites, mobile applications, communications and digital citizen services that enables public sector clients across North America better connect with their communities. “We were not aware that eSolutionsGroup had made the submission, so the win was an exciting surprise,” said Colleen Graham, Chief Communications Officer and Director of Corporate Communications. “This project represents the hard work of many talented individuals within the City organization that came together to build a better digital experience for our community. Receiving recognition for the effort by both eSolutions Group and MarCom is heartening and we hope that the community is pleased with the change as well.”

The MarCom Awards are administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization, founded in 1995, consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, digital, and web professionals.
