Community feedback sparks new change in WestJet flight times
Medicine Hat – WestJet has announced upcoming changes to flight times on its route between Medicine Hat and Calgary which come into effect later this year, after receiving community feedback at a recent roundtable event.
Starting December 5, 2024, WestJet’s YXH–YYC route will have the following schedule:
Medicine Hat to Calgary
- Depart: 7:30 a.m.
- Arrive: 8:16 a.m.
Calgary to Medicine Hat
- Depart: 6:35 p.m.
- Arrive: 7:30 p.m.
The changes come after senior WestJet officials received valuable feedback at a City of Medicine Hat and Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce-hosted roundtable event on October 2. Comments at the roundtable event noted that a late arrival into Medicine Hat was not ideal for most travellers.
WestJet notes this change provides a more convenient schedule and allows travellers returning to Medicine Hat to connect through Calgary from 30-plus destinations in their network, reducing long layovers in Calgary. The Medicine Hat departure time moves 30 minutes later, which still allows travellers to access WestJet’s bank of connecting flights out of Calgary each morning.
“The Medicine Hat Regional Airport appreciates WestJet’s commitment to continually improving their service to meet the needs of Medicine Hat and surrounding area,” said Logan Boyd, Airport Manager. “We appreciate how quickly WestJet implemented the resounding feedback from that event. Together with our partners and valued stakeholders, we collectively continue our advocacy to increase WestJet’s presence and flight frequency in our community.”
Please note, from October 27 to December 4, this flight will depart Medicine Hat at 7 a.m., landing in Calgary at 7:46 a.m. It will then depart Calgary at 11:40 p.m., arriving in Medicine Hat at 12:35 a.m.
