Under Councillor Announcements:
  • Councillor Dumanowski took the opportunity to acknowledge a personal milestone as the date marks he and his wife’s 30th wedding anniversary.
  • Councillor Sharps shared an update on the recent Aerial Evolution Association of Canada Student Competition held in Medicine Hat, with over 150 students from across Canada attending.

Under Unfinished Business, City Council: 
  • Approved a motion to delay the reimbursement of legal fees incurred by Mayor Clark to allow further time to review new material provided to City Council by Mayor Clark on May 20. The item will come forward to the June 2, 2025, Regular Meeting of City Council.
  • Council approved holding a non-statutory public hearing regarding the Transportation Master Plan, Active Transportation Strategy, and Transportation Safety Strategy no later than the end of Q3 2025.
  • Approved changes to Policy 8026 in terms of updated and current market non-union salary grids for the Corporate and IT/Engineering salary grids.
  • Approved changes to Policy 8026 in terms of updated and current market non-union salary grids for the Energy salary grid as discussed in the closed session.
Under New Business, City Council: 
  • Approved a budget amendment of $250,000 to fund a preliminary concept design and project costing for a reduced north grandstand option for the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede.

Under Committee Business, City Council: 
  • Approved a motion directing administration to proceed to arrange, in accordance with legislated requirements, a public hearing regarding the potential incorporation of a municipally controlled corporation (MCC), with the City as sole shareholder, that would operate the City’s electric generation, electric distribution and gas distribution business units (and the supporting energy marketing and business analysis function). The public hearing will take place on June 24, 2025 at 4 p.m. at City Hall in Council Chambers.
