What started as a two-man operated welding shop in 1976 has evolved over 46 years into a cutting-edge leader in the super steel industry.

Located in Brier Park on an 11-acre lot, HRANCO Industries Ltd. (HRANCO) boasts two, state of the art shops totaling 32,000 sq. ft, and has situated themselves as Western Canada’s premiere choice for super steel projects.

The Millington family acquired HRANCO Industries Ltd. (HRANCO) in 1993 and eventually sold the business to their son, Cody, who officially took over the helm in 2015.

Everything from the staff, the services and technology, building size, and the company’s distribution locations, grew immensely when the Millington’s took over.

“My family worked tirelessly to get HRANCO to where it is today – we’ve come a long way,” says Cody Millington, owner. “At any given time of the year, HRANCO employs 50 staff who specialize in fabrication, welding, structural steel erection and pressure piping services. We are looking to expand our team for some upcoming major projects.”

Millington says the local Medicine Hat company ships custom fabricated products all over Western Canada, the Northern United States, and as far away as Texas.

“Offering diverse services is critical to our business model especially being located in Southeast Alberta,” says Cody Millington, owner, HRANCO. “We found a niche in heavy industrial and in oil and gas but have the technology, equipment and skillset to take on any type of structural steel projects.” 

In August 2020, the federal government announced a new COVID-19 Resilience Funding Stream under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program of which the City of Medicine Hat was able to secure $7,519,659 in funding 13 local projects. One of those stimulus projects, Athletic Park ball diamond, saw $3M in upgrades which includes a custom shade canopy fabricated by HRANCO.

The Veiner Centre and Medicine Hat High School are another two major community projects under the HRANCO portfolio.
