Esplanade to host live stream of Team Canada World Cup soccer event

Medicine Hat – The Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre invites the community to watch the live stream of the FIFA World Cup soccer game between Team Canada and Croatia in the main theatre on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 9 a.m.

This event is presented in collaboration between the City of Medicine Hat, the Medicine Hat Soccer Association and the Medicine Hat College Rattlers Soccer.

There are 680 seats in the main theatre of the Esplanade and general admission is available by donation on a first come, first served basis. Doors open at 8 a.m. and preregistration is not required.

The opening ceremony takes place at 8:45 a.m. with the game beginning at 9 a.m. All ages are welcome and there will be television screens in the lobby for guardians with young children who may have difficulty remaining seated. The concession will be open for coffee and muffin purchases, and bar service is available.

Patrons are encouraged to wear red to support Team Canada.

This is the first time Team Canada is going to the FIFA World Cup in 36 years. The World Cup is the most-watched sporting event on earth. In 2018, nearly 3.6 billion people tuned in to watch the tournament. Canada is one of 32 countries playing in the tournament.
