Fire Chief for the Day 2024

Medicine Hat - Medicine Hat Fire and Emergency Services invites the media to observe a Grade 6 student from River Heights Elementary School as they take on the role of Fire Chief for the Day.  

The student’s morning as Fire Chief will include being picked up from school in a fire truck, wearing fire turnout gear, and participating in drills with the day crew.

The Fire Chief for the Day contest was part of Fire Prevention Week (October 6-12, 2024) and was open to local students in grades 4-6.

Additionally, a second contest for students in grades 1-3 features a visit from Sparky the fire dog in a fire engine for a home safety inspection and special prize pack.

Congratulations to both lucky winners, whose names remain a surprise for the contests!
