German film company producing documentary series on Medicine Hat Firefighters

Medicine Hat – Starting Friday, September 2, German multi-media company, Fabiola, will begin filming a documentary series on the Medicine Hat Firefighters. 

The eight-part series, coined as Alberta Alert, will air on the Discovery network in Germany once complete. 

In March 2022, Independent film producers, Fabiola, approached the City of Medicine Hat with their pitch to showcase the life of a firefighter in Western society. German expatriate, Rene Grigat, who has been a part of Medicine Hat Fire & Emergency Services for approximately nine years, will be one of the main contributors in the series. 

“Alberta Alert will highlight the everyday life of Grigat and the other local firefighters and their contribution to the city,” said Oliver Fuchs, Fabiola. “The episodes will be told in an exciting way that highlight the often tough and dangerous life of a firefighter. We also want to feature the human side of these characters and how they collaborate as a team in the field.”

The filming will take place from September 2 through to September 29, with additional filming taking place from January 16 to February 6, 2023. Various locations in the city will be featured, with a particular focus on the three fire stations and boat launch.
