HAT Smart Fund Utilization Status Update

Medicine Hat – The City’s HAT Smart program continues to grow as many energy-conscious residents take advantage of incentives to save money. Residents and local service providers are encouraged to visit www.hatsmart.ca or call 403.502.8799 for more information on the level of funds under HAT Smart’s 2018 Residential Incentive Program, as funding is limited.

At the start of 2018 the program began with $210,000 in funding for residential rebates. As of April 11, 2018, just over $100,000 remains under the 2018 program. The fund utilization status is updated regularly on the HAT Smart website to reflect current levels.
All of the funds for the Solar Electric program were reserved as of mid-March. Residents are still encouraged to submit an application for this program; however funds are not guaranteed. Applications will be considered if an existing application is withdrawn.

“We are excited to see the popularity of the HAT Smart program continue for 2018,” says Daygan Fowler, Environmental Sustainability Officer with the City’s HAT Smart program. “There are two incentive programs to help with home upgrades; it is the ideal time for residents to think about lowering their home’s energy consumption.”

HAT Smart rebates are available to all City of Medicine Hat residential utility customers and are processed on a first come, first served basis. Applications should be submitted promptly to take advantage of the initiatives before funds run out. Funds and rebates are also available through Energy Efficiency Alberta.
