Interactive project map updated ahead of construction season

Medicine Hat – To help inform residents of upcoming, in-progress and completed construction projects, city staff have relaunched the interactive project map ahead of the 2022 construction season.

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) map helps identify major infrastructure ventures planned for the upcoming year.

“It’s our hope that residents and businesses will use this map to stay up to date on projects, as well as any related disruptions throughout construction season,” said Nigel Forster, GIS Specialist.

The map includes major construction projects taking place in parks, with utilities and on roadways over the next several months. Residents can use the map to see important infrastructure upgrades and learn more about each one. Each project on the map includes a description, an expected start and end date, and information about the project cost.

“We designed this map with residents in mind,” Forster added. “Our staff have been working behind the scenes to present this updated information to the community and we’re pleased to provide a snapshot of the projects that are planned for the upcoming year.”

Staff will continue to update the Major Projects map as projects progress throughout the year.

The interactive map can be found on the City’s website from www.medicinehat.ca/cityprojects and is complimented by the Construction and Closures map that may include additional closures related to other construction or events occurring in the community.
