Exciting transit changes
We’ve started a North Zone Pilot today! Routes 10 and 11 will have altered routes with enhanced hours, removing Route 12. We are aiming to best serve the NE and NW Crescent Heights neighbourhoods, and ensure all routes remain on time. This pilot will run from June 26 to August 28. During that time, we are seeking feedback from users on your preference and experience. If the pilot is not an improvement, feedback will allow us to consider alternative changes.
Transit’s Saturday service has been extended by two hours and Sunday service added to Route 56. Transit is looking to add service for Statutory holidays and would like rider feedback on preferences. Take the survey to share your top three options for stat holiday service starting in the fall.

Flea-p of faith
Our Parks and Recreation department has employed around 2000 helpers to work around the clock cleaning up Police Point Park!
No, we’re not talking about summer students – we released flea beetles (Aphthona lacertosa and Aphthona nigriscutis) into the park as a method of targeting and controlling a noxious invasive plant species called Leafy Spurge. The flea beetles were provided by the Alberta Invasive Species Council. Leafy Spurge has been increasing its presence and density in Police Point Park, and these beetles are a great proven method of biological control for it.
So, how do little 3.5-millimetre-long bugs help our Parks staff battle invasive species?
These flea beetles are home to the same locations that Leafy Spurge is a native plant species. Leafy Spurge is their primary food source, and in North America, they would die out without it. They instinctively target Leafy Spurge and will slowly begin to eat away at the supply in Police Point Park. It may take three to five years for populations to take noticeable effect, but these flea beetles are a great natural way to get a handle of that unwanted guest!
