Oct 18 11 am City Focusing on damage assessment and repairs following wind storm

Medicine Hat - October 18, 2017 This morning City crews are focusing on damage assessment and repairs now that the winds have ceased. Electric Distribution staff are working with Municipal Works, Environmental Utilities, Parks and other departments to ensure the continuity of important services to residents and business. 2200 accounts remain without power. Crews are working in multiple locations across the City.
As a result of the wind storm and in an effort to restore electrical services, a short power outage of approximately 1 hour will begin at 1:45 p.m. The areas affected include Riverside, portions of the Kin Coulee area, portions of the South West Hill area and the Echo Dale area. Watch City social media for updates.
Tower Estates and Redcliff
Power was restored to Tower Estates in the early morning. This morning crews are focusing on the infrastructure repairs in that area to utility poles. Assessment of needs is ongoing in Redcliff.
Landfill Site
The City's Landfill site has resumed normal operations this morning.
Big Marble Go Centre *October 19 please note, the Big Marble Go Centre is now open and has resumed normal operation
Oct 18 - The Big Marble Go Centre is presently closed and without power to phone or computers, so cannot take incoming calls. Please note that they may open later today. Check the City's Recreation Facebook page for updates: https://www.facebook.com/MedHatRec/
Please continue to practice safety
There are still downed lines that require attention. Stay at least 10 meters back from any lines or other suspected electrical issues. If you suspect an electrical emergency contact the City at 403.529.8260. 9-1-1 calls should only be used for fire or other emergencies at this time.
The City has received assistance from other municipalities and contractors to carry out this work. We thank them, and thank everyone for your patience throughout the night.
