Outdoor washrooms seasonal closures

Medicine Hat – Seasonal closures to several City-operated washrooms are now complete, and removal of the portable washrooms that were set up in Towne Square as part of a pilot program launched in July 2022 will occur on Monday, October 17.

The portable toilet pilot program in Towne Square was originally slated for one month but was extended to accommodate other events planned for the downtown area, including the Together Again Festival held on September 17. The desire for a public washroom in the downtown area has been widely recognized by both City administration and the public, and the City will continue to explore appropriate and sustainable public washroom solutions for the downtown area.

Washrooms will remain open in Police Point Park, Kin Coulee Toboggan Hill and shelter, Southview Community Park, Strathcona Island Park, Strathcona boat launch pit toilet (pilot), Echo Dale (one pit toilet at the boat lake and one pit toilet at the campground), and portable toilets will remain at WestVue and Saratoga off-leash areas.
