Athletic Park is home to the Medicine Hat Mavericks Baseball Club.May 14, 2021

Medicine Hat’s Athletic Baseball Park is in for quite the boost following the approval of $3M in upgrades through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).

According to the Government of Alberta website, the governments of Canada and Alberta are working together to make long-term infrastructure investments that will build inclusive and prosperous communities. Through the federal government’s ICIP, Alberta is receiving $3.65 billion over the next 10 years (2018-28).

“We are thrilled to be one of the facilities that will receive some financial support,” says Greg Morrison, general manager, Medicine Hat Mavericks. “Our focus is to create a fan-centric experience; we want to continue to elevate the baseball experience for the community, the area, and the sport.”

Home to the Medicine Hat Mavericks baseball club, Athletic Park, is located on the eastern edge of the recently proposed Waterfront District. City officials say the improvements demonstrate the desire of the community to see this anchor facility entertain our city long into the future and become the eastern landmark of the Waterfront District.

Upgrades include expansion of the box office, new fencing, and additional seating, and more.

“The proposed Waterfront District is a great initiative that will shine a light on our downtown,” says Morrison. “My family and I chose this community because of the convenience, the great amenities, and facilities. The Waterfront District will add great value and contribute to the tremendous quality of life one can expect from our community.”
