Police Point Trail Re-Opens from New Lift Station June 28

Medicine Hat – The portion of the Police Point Trail from the popular park to Parkview Close NE re-opens for public enjoyment on Friday, June 28, just in time for the long weekend.

The new lift station was completed last fall. Paving, landscaping and other surface works to re-instate the trail began this spring, once the weather was favourable for paving to occur and set properly. Some grass seeding operations will still be completed in the coming week. Please exercise caution and obey all traffic signage and flag people during this time.
Construction of the new Crescent Heights Lift Station facility is part of the City’s flood mitigation strategy which includes relocation of three existing lift stations to higher elevations where they can continue to operate in flood situations. This facility serves approximately 15% of the City’s population, including Riverside and most of Crescent Heights.

The project included the Installation of two kilometers of 750mm forcemain which ties into the existing wastewater system, and the construction of a large underground vault with submersible pumps that convey wastewater to the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Thank you to everyone for understanding and respecting the trail’s closure during the project, which will provide benefits for many years to come.
